An untapped fuel source for Europe's resilience

The Advanced Feedstocks Alliance brings together companies from across the renewable fuels value chain.

We advocate for workable EU certification rules so that intermediate crops and crops grown on severely degraded land can scale as feedstocks for Europe's renewable fuels.

Our Mission

Our members span the renewable fuels value chain, from seed companies and feedstock producers to refiners, fuel suppliers and fuel users.

Bringing the evidence

We bring together peer-reviewed research, Commission modelling and industry data into one evidence-led position.

Advocacy and Awareness-Raising

We engage policymakers, the agricultural sector and end users for a workable certification framework under IR 2022/996.

Connecting the Value Chain

We connect growers, processors and investors across the renewable fuels value chain.

Intermediate crops

Grown between two main crops, giving farmers an extra harvest from the same field while improving soil health.

Grown on land with limited food or feed capacity, bringing it back into use without new demand for land.

The Value Chain for Advanced Feedstocks

Intermediate crops and degraded land are proven solutions. Policy must let them scale.

Europe's transport targets are set to roughly double advanced biofuel demand within a decade, yet supply leans on a narrow pool of feedstocks such as used cooking oil. These crops already qualify under RED III's Annex IX but lack the certification clarity needed to scale.

Europe needs to diversify its feedstocks so it does not rely on just one.
